The average big European team has brought in new players. One of them is Barcelona who managed to recruit Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich.
Lewandowski is a very experienced striker. He previously played long enough in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
Apart from established players, there are also clubs that decide to bring in young players to strengthen their squad. In fact, there are several young players who have changed new clubs with quite fantastic transfer fees.
Here are five players aged 21 and under with the most expensive transfer fees in the summer of 2022.
5. Charles De Ketelaere
Charles De Ketelaere was brought in by AC Milan this summer. To get the 21-year-old player, the Rossoneri spent 32 million euros.
Milan gave a long-term contract to the Belgian attacking midfielder. Later, De Ketelaere will settle at the San Siro until 2027.
De Ketelaere previously managed to steal the spotlight thanks to his slick performances with Club Brugge. He managed to score 18 goals and 10 assists from 49 appearances last season.
4. Brenden Aaronson
Brenden Aaronson joined Leeds United from RB Salzburg on 26 May 2022. He came to the Premier League for a transfer fee that reached 32.8 million euros.
Aaronson also became Leeds’ most expensive signing in the transfer market this summer. Player aged 21 years contracted until 2027.
Playing as an attacking midfielder, Aaronson is very good at scoring goals and assists. He has scored 13 goals and 15 assists from 66 matches for Salzburg.
3. Amadou Onana
Amadou Onana is one of Everton’s new signings this summer. The 20-year-old midfielder was signed by Everton from French club Lille.
To get the Belgian player, Everton disbursed a fee of 36 million euros. At Goodison Park, Onana is under contract until 30 June 2027.
Last season, Onana played 42 matches in all competitions for Lille. The former Hamburg player managed to pack three goals and one assist from these appearances.
2. Nuno Mendes
Nuno Mendes came to PSG in the summer of 2021. The Portuguese left-back came from Sporting CP on loan.
During one season at PSG, Nuno Mendes was able to perform quite well. The 20-year-old played 40 matches and managed to help PSG win the 2021/22 Ligue 1 title.
Thanks to his slick performance, PSG decided to buy Nuno Mendes permanently. Les Parisiens redeemed him for 38 million euros and gave a contract until 2026.
1. Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland showed great sharpness while playing for Borussia Dortmund. The Norwegian striker became a favourite with top European clubs this summer.
Manchester City finally came out as the winner in the hunt for Haaland’s signature. He moved to the defending Premier League champions for a fee of 60 million euros.
Haaland signed a five-year contract with Man City. The former RB Salzburg player is now a replacement for Sergio Aguero at the Etihad Stadium.
