On the hour, Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka equalized with his first goal of the season, but Manchester United regained the lead six minutes later on Rashford’s goal.
Another Rashford breakaway goal caused the Gunners to endure their first league defeat. United moved up to fifth place in the table with 12 points, three points behind leaders Arsenal.
Earlier in the day, Brighton & Hove Albion defeated Leicester City 5-2 to move up to fourth place. Despite conceding to Kelechi Iheanacho’s goal in the opening minute, Graham Potter’s squad went ahead 2-1 owing to goals from Moises Caicedo and a Luke Thomas own goal.
The triumph was completed by Leandro Trossard, an Alexis Mac Allister brace, and a magnificent free-kick in extra time after Patson Daka had leveled the score for the visitors. Brighton, which has scored five goals for the first time in the Premier League, is only two points back in first place, while Leicester, which is off to their worst Premier League start ever, is still at the bottom of the table with just one point after six games.
As it stands, Man United move to 5th after this victory over Arsenal, while Brighton’s hammering over Leicester City leaves them in 4th. However, Arsenal will remain at the top despite this loss owing to the fact that reigning champions Man City failed to beat Aston Villa on Saturday
