The most prominent among them is Antony Matheus dos Santos (aka Antony). This Ajax winger has been under the radar of Manchester United for a couple of weeks. The final breakthrough came a few days to the end of the 2022 Summer Transfer Window with the Red Devils paying ninety five million Euros for the Brazilian.
This makes him the second most expensive player in United just 10 million Euros less than Paul Pogba. He is the second Ajax player to follow Erik ten Hag to the EPL after defender Lisandro Martinez.
With this fee, Man United have spent a total of 238m Euros this season, breaking the club’s former record of 234m million that was set in the 2019/20 season. The former São Paulo star has also become the most expensive player ever sold by Ajax. The 22-year-old player is expected to make his EPL debut on Wednesday.
Centre-back Cristian Romero is the second man in this category. This Argentine defender made a full transfer to Tottenham on August 30, 2022. Prior to this move, the right-footed player had spent one season on lone at the North London club. Atalanta received a sum of 50 million Euros in transfer fees to allow a permanent move for Romero. This has made 24-year-old footballer to become Spur’s most expensive defender.
Former Napoli midfielder (Fabián Ruiz) is the third most expensive transfer on Tuesday. This 22-year-old man will be joining Lionel Messi Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of 23 million Euros.
This central midfielder (who can also take up attacking or defensive midfielder role) has not featured in any competitive game this season. However, he scored seven goals and made four assists in 32 Serie A games last term. This Spaniard has now become the most valuable midfielder at PSG. With a market value of 55 million Euros, Ruis has become the most valuable midfielder at the Ligue 1 outfit.
