Everton was impenetrable against Arsenal and the Gunners suffered a 1-0 defeat against the Toffees.

The host went into the game having lost eight of their last nine matches in all competition and totally outplayed and outfought the Premier League table toppers, Arsenal.

Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey were both ineffective in midfield and even Martin Odegaard was unable to create a single spark of any kind.

Mikel Arteta’s men were their unusual self and both Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka wasted chances against the Toffees.

James Tarkowski scored the only goal of the afternoon between Arsenal and Everton and that goal proved to be decisive. The former Burnley man was also named MOTM for his solid performance at the back and also scoring the goal that gifted Everton all 3 points against the Gunners.

With that defeat, Manchester City now has a chance to reduced Arsenal’s five point deficit at the top to two, when they tackle Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Now, let’s kindly take a look at the 3 players to blame for Arsenal’s shocking Premier League defeat against Everton at Goodison Park.

1. Eddie Nketiah

After scoring a double against Manchester United last week, Eddie Nketiah failed to really showcase his class at Goodison Park.

He missed a huge chance in the first-half and struggled to get himself into goalscoring positions.

2. Gabriel Martinelli

The Brazilian was handed a new contract at Arsenal until 2027 and he wasn’t expecting a Premier League defeat against Everton to follow up.

He was ineffective on the left-flank and Everton’s backline gave him no time on the ball. Leandro Trossard was later introduced in place of Gabriel Martinelli early in the second-half.

3. Ben White

The Englishman was the first Arsenal play to make way in the second-half. Ben White was poor against Everton and he seems to be lacking in confidence at the moment.
