According to talkSPORT, a deal has been approved with the Red Devils, who are in “desperate need” of strengthening their front line due to the complete lack of firepower within their ranks.
Cunha only joined the Spanish capital team last summer in a £22 million transfer from Hertha Berlin, and with seven goals in 37 outings for the Champions League regulars, he has not made an impression.
Antoine Griezmann, Joao Felix, and Alvaro Morata are currently ahead of him in the pecking order, so it isn’t totally his fault. Although it fills some of the void caused by Anthony Martial’s injury absence, the deal would not immediately solve all of United’s attacking issues.
Cunha may take on a prominent role under Erik ten Hag this summer with Cristiano Ronaldo’s future still up in the air as he looks to turn around United’s dismal start to the season following their 4-0 thrashing at Brentford and their 2-1 defeat to Brighton at home in the most somber of circumstances.
