Liverpool suffered an early setback as Trent Alexander-Arnold found himself in the referee’s book with a yellow card and escaped been sent off after another rough tackle.
However, the England international was involved in a defensive mistake that handed Newcastle the opener.
In the 25th minute, Alexander-Arnold’s miscontrol of the ball paved the way for Gordon to take the opportunity & neatly slot the ball past Alisson Becker.
