The first among them is Scott Carson. The 36-year-old shot stopper joined Manchester City as a free agent from Derby County in July, 2021. The only competitive match in which he featured for the Citizens in the just-concluded season was the UCL Round of 16 second leg against Sporting CP.

Carson was brought in for first choice goalkeeper, Ederson in the 73rd minute. He held on to protect the team’s clean sheet till the end of the match.

The second Englishman that manned the goal in the 2021/22 UCL was Thomas David Heaton. The Chester-born goalie moved to Manchester United as a free agent on July 2, 2021.

His only top flight appearance for the club in period under review was in the final Group F match against BSC Young Boys on December 8, 2021. He was brought in for Dean Henderson in the 68th minute and made a couple of efforts to ensure that the Red Devils did not concede any goal under his watch.

Dean Henderson is also in this category. It is worthy of note that this goalie is the youngest among the trio. This 25-year-old shot stopper made five competitive appearances for the Red Devils in the last season.

One of these is the final Group F match of the 2021 UCL. The 2020 U-20 World Cup winner played for 68 minutes in the game and conceded one goal before he was replaced with Tom Heaton.
