This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Uyo on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Odiko Macdon.

He said there will be restriction of movement from 7 am to 2 pm on the said day in the affected local government areas, adding that only INEC staff, health workers and security agents will be exempted.

While urging the residents of the areas to come out to vote without any fear of molestation or intimidation, the command warned perpetrators of violence to steer clear of the election venue or face the consequences of their actions.

“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has deployed 2000 Officers and Men of the Command and Sister Security Agencies to 54 Polling units and 15 Wards in the 3 Local Government Areas affected by the re-run election in Akwa Ibom State to provide top notch security before, during and after the re-run election holding on Saturday, 3rd of February, 2024.

“The Command is hereby warning perpetrators of violence to steer clear of election venues or face the full wrath of the law,” the statement said.
