Maatsen is one of the big prospects in Chelsea academy and he has shown to be ready for first team action after going on loan to Coventry City last season.
Chelsea released an official statement on their website to announce Maatsen move to Burnley on a season-long loan.
“Ian Maatsen will spend a second season in the Championship after completing a loan transfer to Burnley for 2022/23,” the club stated.
“The 20-year-old full-back impressed in his debut campaign in the second tier on loan at Coventry City last season, where he was named the club’s Young Player of the Year after making 42 appearances in all competitions.
“Alternating between left-back and a more attacking role on the wing over the course of the season, Maatsen was a key player for the Sky Blues as they made an early challenge for a play-off spot before finishing in mid-table.”
