Brown, a former San Francisco mayor, and Harris dated between 1994 and 1995 and Brown takes credit for Trump writing a check to Harris’ California attorney general campaign in 2011. Harris’ relationship with Brown has fueled accusations that it was the reason for her political success and critics have used it to question her qualifications.
During Thursday’s press conference, Trump acknowledged that he hadn’t seen Brown in “years” but said he knows him “pretty well.”
“I went down in a helicopter with him. We thought maybe this was the end,” Trump said. “We were in a helicopter going to a certain location together and there was an emergency landing. This was not a pleasant landing.”
