They are requesting their release from custody and seeking compensation of N20 million each. Additionally, this lawsuit involves Waheed Ayilara, who serves as the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Homicide section in Panti Yaba, Lagos, and Adeola Olatunbosun, who is the Chief Magistrate of court 1 in Yaba, Lagos, as co-respondents.
In addition to seeking their prompt release from custody, the two individuals are requesting compensation of N20 million each as damages.
Marley and Larry were apprehended by the police on October 3 and 4, 2023, respectively, in connection to the alleged involvement in the passing of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
On October 4, the police obtained a court order from Yaba Magistrate Court to keep them in custody for 30 days while they investigate Mohbad’s death.
Nevertheless, Chief Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun allowed the police to detain them for a shorter period of 21 days, which concluded on October 26.
Nevertheless, Marley and Larry have pointed out that even after the originally specified detention period had ended, the police persist in apprehending, confining, and curtailing their freedom of movement, thereby violating their basic rights as Nigerian citizens.
