Grady Diangana’s tap-in in the 15th minute gave Carlos Corberan’s team a sixth consecutive home league victory and clean sheet.

In more than 11 hours of football, or 697 minutes, Albion has not given up a goal at home in any competition.

The game began with excellent chances at both ends in an open, end-to-end fashion.

But the hosts ultimately prevailed, helped by a steady stream of strong plays from Wallace and rookie Marc Albrighton.

Dike headed over an excellent opportunity for Albion to take the lead when Albrighton crossed the ball.

Soon after, Coventry had a chance to make up for that error, but Viktor Gyokeres could only glance Jamie Allen’s center across the goal.

With only 30 minutes remaining, however, Diangana scored unassisted from close range after Wallace had nodded on a long throw-in from Darnell Furlong.

In the 61st minute, Josh Wilson-Esbrand, Josh Eccles, and Matty Godden were brought on for Coventry, who had plenty of possession for significant stretches of the second half.

But they found it difficult to penetrate a staunch Albion defense that wasn’t used to giving up in front of their own supporters.

Gustavo Hamer’s free-kick for the Sky Blues presented a threat, which Button parried, but Gyokeres should have done better from the edge of the box after receiving a pass from Allen.

After Jed Wallace hit the post and missed additional chances while Daryl Dike missed two, West Brom were deserving of their return to winning ways.
