The 37-year-old forward teared into the Red Devils’ every department, right from their recruitment, to managers to the infrastructure since he rejoined them last summer.

He also levelled some serious accusations against the club for “betraying” him, and manager Erik ten Hag for not respecting him.

In a new snippet shared by Morgan now, Ronaldo has lashed out at the club for being stagnant in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era and not equip the training facilities with modern technology.

However, apart from the legendary manager, Ronaldo claimed the club’s former Chief Executive David Gill’s departure too did a significant amount of damage at Old Trafford.

Cristiano Ronaldo spoke on a lot of issues that are holding United back from making progress. However, the one which certainly would have taken the fans by surprise was his revelation of how the club’s infrastructure has a number of shortcomings, as compared to the other elite clubs like his former employees Real Madrid and Juventus.

The Portuguese said United have not integrated new technology at the club, which certainly is a massive drawback given the fact that Manchester United is arguably the biggest club in England.

The five-time Champions League winner, however pointed out that Sir Alex Ferguson stepping down after 27 years in 2013, was not the only reason United have stagnated.

He credited David Gill for his work at Old Trafford, who was one of the chief architects of the team Sir Alex Ferguson built. Speaking of how David Gill’s departure affected the club massively alongside Sir Alex Ferguson, Ronaldo said:

“When I arrived, I thought everything will be different, you know, the technology, the infrastructures and everything. Unfortunately, we see a lot of what I used to see at 21, 22, and 23 years old.

It really surprised me, in a bad way. Nothing changed, surprisingly. Not only the pool, the jacuzzi, even the gym. Even the kitchen, the chefs, whom I appreciate – lovely people.

They stopped in time. It surprised me a lot. I thought when I signed, they sign in that year [Jadon] Sancho, and [Raphael] Varane, plus me, that things will be in the way that Manchester should be.

“Sir Alex Ferguson left a big gap in the club, not only Sir Alex Ferguson, one person that I thought made the difference — David Gill, the president, is a very, very good man.

I haven’t seen an evolution at the club. Progress is zero. You have to tear it down and rebuild it. If they start with me, it’s not a problem. The structure around Sir Alex Ferguson was very important too. So I knew that Manchester United wasn’t the same.”

Manchester United are yet to respond to Cristiano’s comments, but released a statement which said the “club will consider its response after the full facts have been established”.

However it is quite clear that its the end of the journey for Ronaldo at United once and for all.

The three-time Premier League winner with the Red Devils is currently on national duty with Portugal for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, but is not expected to don the red shirt of United post the tournament.
