Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal, Barcelona have been keeping a close tab on the Brazilian forward since the end of last season.
It is believed that Chelsea have managed to fight off competition after agreeing to pay an initial fee of £60 million for the talented attacker.
However, questions have been raised on whether Chelsea actually needs to add Raphinha to their list of stars. The Brazilian is said to have a similar playing style to Hakim Ziyech who continue to struggle for consistency since his summer move from Ajax in 2021.
In this article, we will compare Raphinha and Ziyech’s stats in the Premier League last season:
1. Goals and assists
Hakim Ziyech scored just four goals and provided three assists in 23 games for Chelsea last season. On the other hand, Raphinha bagged eleven goals and provided just three assists in 35 appearances.
Raphinha had more goals than Ziyech because he featured in the Premier League more times than his Moroccan counterpart.
2. Total shots
Raphinha mustered more shots than Ziyech in the Premier League last season. The Brazilian winger recorded 88 shots – 25 on target and 37 off target. On the other hand, Ziyech managed 52 shots but only 19 of those were on target.
3. Defensive duties
Raphinha has a better defensive statistics than Hakim Ziyech. The Brazilian recorded 29 interceptions, 51 tackles, 25 clearances, and 23 aerial duels won.
Ziyech’s defensive stat is nothing compared to his counterpart. The Moroccan attacker managed just 10 interceptions, 19 tackles, 8 clearances, and 13 aerial duels won.
