However, in the last few hours, ‘Sports Ilustrated’ reported that Manchester City have entered the race for the 23-year-old defender. Pep Guardiola had already scouted him when he was in charge of Bayern Munich and now he is back in the market for him.
The Sky Blue are a step away from selling Nathan Ake, who could leave for Chelsea, and the coaching staff have asked the club’s board to sign a centre-back to fill the gap left.
Sevilla, meanwhile, are asking for around 60 million to negotiate for Kounde, who is one of the key players in Julen Lopetegui’s squad. It remains to be seen whether City are willing to pay that amount.
The truth is that, if this transfer is confirmed, Kounde could become the fourth signing of the Cityzens in this market after the arrivals of Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez and Stefan Ortega.
