Christian Pulisic emerged as AC Milan’s transfer target as the Serie A side prepare to sharpen their attack ahead of next season’s Serie A campaign.

AC Milan close in on a deal to sign Pulisic from Chelsea

Pulisic, 24, has a year remaining in his Chelsea contract but has not been approached for a renewal by Chelsea. Sources close to Chelsea revealed the Blues were open to the departure of the American attacker.

Christian Pulisic was listed as one of the players to face the axe as Chelsea pressed on with their planned summer overhaul.

Italian outlet, Glanluca DiMarzio reported AC Milan were interested in a move for Pulisic as the club attempt to bolster their lineup for the 2023/24 Serie A campaign.

AC Milan manager Stefan Pioli is also said to be a big fan of Pulisic and was eager to bring him to the San Siro as the club brace for the exit of Real Madrid loanee Brahim Diaz, whose loan spell was set to expire this summer.

The Rossoneri were also under pressure to recruit as Premier League side, Newcastle United closed in on a deal to land Sandro Tonali before finally signing the player for £70m.

The exit of Brahim Diaz and Sandro Tonali left a big gap in the Rossoneri squad with Pulisic emerging as a top target for the Serie A side.

Now, AC Milan and Chelsea are reportedly close to brokering a deal for Christian Pulisic in a move which could see the Italian leave end his four-year stay at the club.

The American was tipped to leave Chelsea this summer by pundits after struggling for a place in the team in 2022/23 season under different managers.

Pulisic appearance stats for Chelsea has not improved since 2021/22 season hence he was inevitably set to make Chelsea’s exit list this summer with the club hoping to cash in on his exit instead of losing him for free after next season.

Pulisic made only 8 starts for Chelsea in 2022/23 season in his 24 appearances for the club, scoring and assisting once.

His 2022/23 stats was a big slip from his stats during 2021/22 season when he recorded 6 goals for the club and 2 assists in 22 apearances.

Pulisic joined Chelsea in 2019, signing a five-year contract. He has made a total of 145 appearances for the club, scoring 26 times with 21 assists.

He has won the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup with Chelsea and is hoping to open a new chapter in his career.

Pulisic will join the piling list of first team players leaving Chelsea in droves this summer. N’Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, and Hakim Ziyech are all leaving the club this summer with more names expected to be added to the list.
