Fabrizio Romano was the first with the story this morning, and he is ending the working day saying that Palmer has “said yes” to a move to Stamford Bridge, and has been made the Blues’ “top target” as an attacking player. There’s a long way to go, and Romano adds that a fee of around £45m will be necessary to get Palmer in the door.

Jason Burt at the Telegraph goes even further, saying a deal is almost done, and that the a medical could take place as soon as tomorrow. That truly is lightening speed.

There are of course question about whether he’s the right fit, whether Chelsea need him, whether he’s any good, how much he would cost, whether he would block the development of the host of other 20 somethings we’ve bought. But discarding all of them, this is starting to look like a strong possibility….READFULL
