The former Stade de Rennes goalkeeper who has been enjoying a blistering run of form for the Blues so far since the new year began was able to replicate the same tempo for his national team with another masterclass delivery, which earned them the crucial three points that placed them at the top of the table with six points after a back-to-back win.
Edouard Mendy in the game played his part and also contributed his quota in the thrilling encounter as he made some quite incredible number of iconic saves that could have been converted by the opponent.
The first half of the game was such a balanced one between the two sides as there was nothing to separate them which ended goalless draw going into the half time break.
The same was the case in the second half as the tempo got more tensed up with all attempts from both sides to break the deadlock proving abortive until the late minute to the end of the game when the AFCON Champions got a breakthrough to take the lead via penalty, as Sadio Mane put the ball away from the spot to make it one nil at full time.
Edouard Mendy with his brilliant performance in the show of the night will then be looking forward to continuing his run of form in their next game as they keep their pursuit going in the qualifying series.
