Olise incentive
Chelsea have been given the perfect incentive to push ahead with their interest in Crystal Palace starlet Michael Olise. The Blues may be forced to pursue their interest in the Crystal Palace star following reports that Brighton & Hove Albion have reached an agreement in principle with Ajax for Kudus.
The Seagulls have become renowned for their exquisite business in the transfer market in recent years, but with their first-ever season in Europe approaching, Roberto De Zerbi’s side have been forced to spend big this summer.
Having already smashed their club-record transfer fee to bring Joao Pedro to the Amex Stadium from Watford, they are now set to surpass the £30million mark with a fee worth £34.5million for Kudus.
The deal isn’t close to completion, yet. However, with Chelsea likely to miss out on the 23-year-old, Boehly now has more of a reason than ever to sign Olise.
Maatsen boost
Pochettino is still pushing for Caicedo though, and his latest decision could help save the Blues millions if they are able to complete a swoop for Caicedo. As per the Evening Standard, the Chelsea boss has told Ian Maatsen he wants to keep him at Stamford Bridge this season.
The Cobham graduate spent last season on loan at Championship winners Burnley before returning to Chelsea and impressing in pre-season.
Despite predominantly playing at left-back, Maatsen was deployed further forward in the tour of USA and he also has the ability to play in central midfield meaning he is another option the club can look at as they try to bolster their engine room ranks.
By keeping Maatsen at the club, the need for a new winger and central midfielder decreases as he is able to cover those roles which could in theory help Chelsea save a significant money amount of money if they match Brighton’s asking price for Caicedo.
The 21-year-old has impressed Pochettino to the point where new contract talks are also set to take place allowing Chelsea to focus their funding in other areas that Maatsen won’t cover.
Mbappe messages
Kylian Mbappe’s future is still yet to be resolved with Paris Saint-Germain looking to sell the French superstar. Real Madrid stars Vinicius Jr and Eder Militao have appeared to tell chief club scout Calafat that they wish to see Mbppe join the club.
In a video of the Spanish outfit training, it appears that someone said: “We hope he will come. Juni, you have to sign Mbappe. You are spending all our money in Ibiza. We’ll no longer have enough for Mbappe.”
