Because of his versatility, Mason Mount has been able to excel in a number of different positions while playing for Tuchel. Poyet, on the other hand, is of the opinion that playing him out of position reduces his influence.
Poyet:
“Mason, in my opinion, and with all due respect to the coaches, ought to have a particular function on the team, and he ought to play that position the vast majority of the time.
It is challenging for a player to reach his full potential when he is required to play many roles on the field. When Mount plays as the pivot behind the strikers for Chelsea or loses the ball within the area, the Blues have a significant increase in the quantity of scoring opportunities available to them. When played too wide or deep, he takes on a completely other persona.
Mount has been one of the finest performances for Chelsea over the past two seasons, and each of those seasons he was named player of the season by the Chelsea fans. He has worked most frequently at the No. 10 position, but on a few occasions he has also filled in on the wing.
However, he has gotten off to a slow start this season, and Graham Potter will have a new challenge on his hands in order to get the 23-year-old playmaker back on track.
Despite this, Potter is an excellent coach who can implement a variety of strategies. He has a good understanding of how to integrate players into roles and how to motivate them to perform.
It is possible for him to play the same role in Chelsea that Pascal played, and if he does so, we can anticipate the English superstar making an effect in the final third.
