However, this new development has left some Chelsea fans in a disappointing mood, after believing that Raphinha would have been a Chelsea player by now after Chelsea agreed on a deal worth £55m with Leeds United for the Brazilian, only for him (Raphinha) and his agent to reject personal terms with Chelsea, as he sets his sight on playing for the Catalans.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s fans should not fume at this switch rather they (Chelsea’s fans) should be jubilating over the possible move of Raphinha to Barcelona.

Reason:

Raphinha’s possible move to Barcelona saved Chelsea from making a costly error in this ongoing transfer window: There is every tendency that Chelsea football club’s new owner, Todd Boehly, would have ended up splashing a whooping £55m in vain on Raphinha, provided that Barcelona didn’t persist in beating them (Chelsea), by matching up to Chelsea’s bid for Raphinha.

This is because, Raphinha’s rejection of Chelsea’s initial interest would have made him (Raphinha) flop at Chelsea, provided that Chelsea football club ended up signing him. This is courtesy of the fact that Raphinha’s passion is on Barcelona and not Chelsea.

This means that Raphinha will not offer his best form for Chelsea’s squad, if he was successfully added to the Chelsea’s squad. Hence Chelsea’s fans should only rejoice at Barcelona’s capture of Raphinha than being disappointed by Chelsea’s inability to sign him because the £55m that will be spent on purchasing Raphinha might be wasted in vain.
