Nathan Ake’s former club did not reach Manchester City’s £50 million valuation, thus Chelsea’s attempt to acquire him cannot materialize

As he rebuilds the backline this summer, Thomas Tuchel was hoping to bring three central defenders to Stamford Bridge. One of them was the Dutchman.

Following the free transfers of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger from West London, Kalidou Koulibaly is expected to leave for Napoli in a £34 million deal.

Presnel Kimpembe, a defender for Paris Saint-Germain, is also a target for the Blues, and Tuchel also hoped to bring Ake back to his old team to complete the rebuild.

Ake spent seven years as a Chelsea player, joining their academy at Feyenoord at the age of just 15. He then left Chelsea for Bournemouth in 2017 before joining City two years later.

Ake has now been informed by City that they will not be allowing him to leave, and it is assumed that he has agreed to their decision and is content to remain.
