The Blues are reportedly in pole position to land the forward after Todd Boehly reached an agreement with the Citizens in a transfer fee. The deal is expected to progress to another level in the days to come.
Raheem, as we all know, is the current Manchester City’s number 7, but in Chelsea, that shirt is occupied by one of their best players, N’golo Kante. Kante is the driver of Chelsea’s midfield and a senior player in the team, so there’s no way he can be stripped of the shirt even if Ronaldo joins the Blues.
As it stands, the England international will have to access other options when it comes to the jersey number. However, the Chelsea fans have advised Sterling to avoid the club’s number 9 shirt.
Aside from the number 9, they are other numbers Sterling could pick if he decides to follow the fan’s advice. The only numbers currently available for the England international are the jersey numbers 14, 15, 25, 26, 27, 30, 32, and 34.
These numbers are currently available for grab as was reported by Football London. Sterling once wore the jersey number 31 in Liverpool, so he could grab the number 30 or 32 shirt while he waits patiently for the outgoing in January or the 2023/24 season.
