In the Midfield, Arsenal is heavily stacked with Defensive Midfielder Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka and their Captain Martin Odegaard. In the Attack, there’s Gabriel Jesus as number 9 with Bukayo Saka in the Right-wing and Gabriel Martinelli in the Left-wing.
However, when Mikel Arteta first took over, the squad wasn’t as strong as it is currently. According to Bleacher Report, In Mikel Arteta’s first ever starting lineup as Arsenal Manager, German Goalkeeper Bernd Leno started as Number 1 but he has been shipped off to Nottingham Forest.
In the Defense, Bukayo Saka started in the Left-back, Sokratis and David Luiz started in the Central-backs while Maitland-Niles started as Right-back.
Lucas Torreira, Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka started in the Midfield while Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Reiss Nelson and Alexandre Lacazette led the Attack.
In this starting lineup, only Reiss Nelson, Bukayo Saka and Granit Xhaka still remain at the club under Mikel Arteta as the rest has been sold or left the club as free agents.
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s contract was terminated by the North London club in January 2022 while Alexandre Lacazette left on a free transfer last summer. Bernd Leno was also sold to Nottingham Forest last summer.
