Like every other celebrities, Nigerian musician and actor, Olubankole Wellington (Banky W) and Nigerian actress, Adesua Etomi met on social media.

It all started when Banky W took the bold step and sent a message to Adesua on Instagram after stalking her profile online for sometime. Adesua said Banky’s first message to her on IG was hilarious and it made her laugh out loud…at that moment, she knew they were going to get along well.

Although both of them revealed that they never had the intention of marrying anyone in the entertainment industry but fate brought them together. They started their relationship in 2015 and kept it on a low-key, from the public and media.

Two years later, in February 2017, Banky W officially announced his engagement to Adesua Etomi. After the announcement, majority thought it was public stunt because they haven’t heard any news of them being together in a relationship, prior to the engagement.

Nine months later in November 2017, Banky got married to Adesua and their wedding became one of the most talked about celebrity weddings of 2017.

Their traditional wedding was held on Sunday, November 19th 2017 after Banky had his third successful surgery for skin cancer. The court wedding was held the next day on the 20th and their white wedding followed a few days later, in South Africa on November 25, 2017.

Banky and Adesua had a slight delay of two and half years before having their first child.

The couple shared their experience with childbirth at their church, The waterbrook churchz on Sunday, April 4th 2021.

They were trolled on social media for not having a child, and then they opted to try IVF (In vitro fertilization), twice. They lost a set of twins at the first trial and also failed at the second attempt.

Adesua explained that she was later diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, (PCOs) which causes woemn to skip menstrual periods and make it harder for them to get pregnant.

The actress explained that after all the troubling medical experiences, she and her husband, Banky gave up on any other treatment or medical remedy and just decided to wait on God. God finally answered their prayers after joining Nathaniel Bassey’s Hallelujah Challenge, a praise worship movement on Instagram.

They were blessed with a baby boy named Zaiah. Though baby Zaiah was born in January 2021, Adesua did not reveal she had given birth until February 22nd, on her birthday.

According to Banky, they chose the name Zaiah which is short form of Hazaiah which means “God sees” in Hebrew…because the name captures the testimony of their son’s arrival. Other names for the boy are Olusegun as Champ.

The singer also released a song titles “Final Say” to celebrate his son’s birth. The song’s video was officially released on February 26th but was shot when Adesua was still six months pregnant.

According to Adesua, she and her husband decided to share their experience to encourage other couples who might be going through a similar situation.

Recently, Banky W revealed where he draws his inspiration for his love songs after people asked why he’s still singing love songs even though he’s married.

He said, ‘I’m married to the most beautiful woman in the world so I don’t understand why you’d think that I’d stop singing love songs now when I’m actually fully in love and experiencing all the beauty that comes with being in love”.
