Rashes are wide spread eruptions of the skin lessions that have noticeable change in texture and colour of the skin. They may be scaly, bumpy, itchy or irritating and are treatable.

CAUSES OF RASHES ON BABIES

The following are the causes of rashes on the body of babies;

– Feet

– Diaper areas

– Skin folds, etc.

TYPES OF RASHES THAT AFFECTS BABIES

– Baby acne. It appears on the skin of the baby.

– Cradle cap occurs on the head.

– Diaper rash. This is caused by the acidity of the baby’s urine or feces.

The treatment option for rashes includes the following;

– Frequent change of diapers

– Using a barrier cream on diapers

– Removing acidic foods from baby’s diet.

Cradle cap can be treated by the application of oil on the head.

PREVENTION OF RASHES

– Keep the skin of the baby dry and clean

– Give the baby all the recommended vaccines

– Kissing the baby should be avoided

– Keep tract of skin reactions.

It is pertinent to note that rashes do not pose any serious health challenge and can be treated.
