The team is picked based on the performance of players from August 8, 2021, to December 18, 2022. The winner is also determined based on the votes of players.
As expected, Paris Saint-Germain players featured heavily on the team. This is because of their performance in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The same applies to Real Madrid players but this was due to their Champions League triumph. Manchester City also had a number of players on the team.
Real Madrid goalkeeper and Champions League final hero, Thibaut Courtois features in goal. The Belgian goalkeeper won the Champions League, the Spanish La Liga, and the UEFA Super Cup.
Manchester City star, João Cancelo features on the left side of the back three. In the centre, Virgil Van Dijk features, while Morocco’s World Cup hero, Achraf Hakimi features on the right side of the defense.
The midfield three consist of Real Madrid’s Luka Modric, Manchester United star, Casemiro, and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.
Casemiro won the Champions League, Super Cup, and the Spanish La Liga with Real Madrid before leaving for Manchester United where he has also become one of the English side’s best players.
