The president was leading the centenary celebrations of TVET in Kenya at the institution when he engaged the students one-on-one, during which they addressed their challenges to him.

In response, the president insisted that the particular student would have her performance assessed before being considered for a posting.

A female student secured an internship opportunity from President William Ruto after she seized a chance to ask for it.

The president was at the Nyeri National Polytechnic on Tuesday, March 26, for the Centenary celebrations of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) when he interacted with the scholars.

After a one-on-one engagement with the president, one of the students majoring in hospitality asked for  a chance to work at State House Nairobi, putting the president at a crossroads.

Not sure of a specific posting to give her, Ruto instead offered her an internship. The president explained that it would be prudent if the student was offered a chance to prove her capability, after which she could be considered for an opportunity.

While exuding confidence that the student would fit the bill, the president charged his aides to take up the matter.

Elsewhere, the president recently urged Kenyan youths to acquire digital skills, pursue online employment, and earn dollars.

Ruto challenged the youth to take advantage of the ICT hubs in every ward nationwide to secure online job opportunities.

He said his administration would build six ICT hubs in every war to serve 200 to 300 youths. This was followed by the revelation of Brian Kipchumba, an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) diploma student who works part-time online.
