Itching that occurs after bathing signifies that the skin is not healthy and may need some interventions. It could happen as a result of the person having some serious health issues such as liver disease, lymphoma, etc.

CAUSES OF ITCHING

The following are the causes of itching in the body;

1) Xerosis Cutis

This is a situation where dry skin is soaked extensively in water. It causes the natural oil in the body to be washed off thereby resulting in itching mostly in the hands and legs.

2) Soap

There are some soaps that when used on the body causes itching especially if the soap is not properly washed off.

When a person is having persistent itching after bathing, taking the following home remedies may help to relieve symptoms;

1) Pat the skin to dry instead of using towel so as to allow some moisture to remain in the body.

2) Applying moisturizer on the skin while it is still damp, it will help to lock up some moisture on the body.

3) Changing of bathing soap is necessary if there is continous itching.

4) Changing of shower time and method of shower, like taking a warm shower will make the skin less itchy.

5) Use of cooling agents. This involves using menthol or calamine lotion on the site of the itching.

6) Using anti-itching creams that may contain lactic acid will help sooth and bind moisture on the skin.

7) Using essential oil that has being diluted in a carrier oil such as jojoba oil, almond oil, etc to rub on the skin.

8) Drinking of plenty water that will help in dehydration which has been linked to dry and itchy skin.

Prolonged and persistent itching should be reported to the Doctor for prompt medical attention.
