1. Transport – it transports gases such as oxygen and carbon dioxide to and from the lungs, and also helps in transporting nutrients from the digestive tract to other parts of the body, as well as moving wastes, hormones and other cells.

2. Protection – the white blood cell components of the blood acts as the body soldier which fights off harmful or invading microorganisms, while platelets help blood clotting which helps to minimise blood loss from injuries.

3. Regulation – the blood is responsible for the regulation of several aspects of the body’s functions such as the body’s temperature, pH, and water balance.

Considering the three major roles played by the blood, keeping it in top conditions and devoid of impurities should be a top priority. Fortunately, the kidneys and the liver helps to purify the blood by the filtration and subsequent removal and breakdown of waste. However, you can enhance the works of these two important organs to further cleanse your blood.

To this effect, there are foods that you can consume for this purpose, and such foods would be our focus as we examine certain foods and herbs that can help cleanse the blood and help in further detoxification of the body from waste, toxins, and other harmful substances. 1. Water

It is often said that water is life and there is no better detoxifier than water, as its high intake is linked to a boost in the kidney’s performance. This is because the kidneys’ ability to eliminate waste from the blood is highly dependent on water, hence, the higher the water available, the more efficiently the kidney works to remove wastes from the blood.
