Addressing the topic, Ikenga said, “This led us to demand more accountability and led to the cleaning of the register. When the cleaning of the register started, there was so much opposition to it. Apart from the cleaning of the register, there was the issue of identifying and tracking these beneficiaries. By December, the humanitarian ministry, working with the EFCC, discovered that almost N44 billion had been moved into a private account.”
He added, “I want Nigerians to be very careful at this junction because we have an ongoing investigation that uncovered how N44 billion was moved and the EFCC has recovered N39 billion out of it. More revelations are also coming out about how these funds were disbursed. Suddenly, Halima Shehu and her followers are fighting back, and the minister’s issue also came up.”
