The Frenchman won the prize ahead of team mate Thibaut Courtois and Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City.
Karim Benzema topped the scoring charts last season in the Champions League with 15 goals.
The 34-year-old is the hot favourite to win the Ballon d’Or award later this year.
Karim Benzema played a key role as Madrid won LaLiga title this year, finishing 13 points ahead of Barcelona.
He has scored 35 times in 37 games as Carlo Ancelotti’s men lifted four trophies already in 2022.

Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, is close to joining his former club, Sporting Lisbon.
According to Caughtoffside, the deal for Sporting Lisbon to sign Ronaldo is currently at ‘99% done.’
The outlet disclosed this in a tweet via its Twitter handle on Thursday.
It tweeted: “Cristiano Ronaldo is on the verge of signing for Sporting Lisbon.
“The club is going to begin presentation preparations from tomorrow. Deal 99% done.
CR7 has made no secret of the fact that he wants to leave Manchester United this summer because he wants to play in the Champions League.
Sporting at the moment appears to be the only team in the competition who have offered the 37-year-old a place.
