All vertebrates have kidneys, which are a pair of bean-shaped organs. The kidneys, which are located toward the back of the abdominal cavity, one on each side of the spine, are some of the most sacrosanc organs in the body.

The renal arteries carry blood into the kidneys and the renal veins carry it out. Although the kidneys are tiny, they gather 20–25 percent of the heart’s output.

People generally understand that the kidneys’ primary role is to eliminate waste materials and excess fluid from the body. Urine is used to eliminate these waste materials and excess fluid. Urine is formed by a series of excretion and re-absorption processes. This mechanism is critical for maintaining a steady chemical equilibrium in your body.

Kidney illness does not appear out of nowhere; it is primarily caused by a man’s behaviours, which include everything from his lifestyle to his dietary habits. Consumption of foods without regard to their quantity is a risk factor for renal disease. Salt, sugar, alcohol, red meat, cigarettes, medicines, and prescriptions are some of the items you ingest that might harm your kidneys.

Warning Signs.

1. You feel the need to urinate more often.

It could be an indication of renal illness if you need to urinate more frequently, especially at night. The need to urinate can rise when the kidney filters are compromised. In men, this could indicate a urinary infection or an enlarged prostate.

2. You see blood in your urine.

When the kidneys filter wastes from the blood to create urine, they usually keep the blood cells in the body, but when the filters in the kidneys are damaged, the blood cells can “leak” out into the urine. Blood in the urine can indicate malignancies, kidney stones, or an infection in addition to renal disease.

3. You’re experiencing persistent puffiness around your eyes.

Protein in the urine is a warning sign that the filters in the kidneys have been damaged, allowing protein to flow into the urine. Your kidneys may be leaking a big amount of protein into the urine instead of retaining it in the body, causing puffiness around your eyes.

4. Swelling in hands or feet.

When your kidneys begin to fail, extra fluid accumulates in your body, producing swelling in your legs, ankles, feet, and/or hands.

5. You have dry and itchy skin.

Kidneys that are in good health provide a variety of functions. They aid in the production of red blood cells, the maintenance of strong bones, and the regulation of mineral levels in the blood.

Dry, itchy skin is typically a sign of mineral and bone disease, which occurs when the kidneys are no longer able to maintain the proper balance of minerals and nutrients in your blood.
