The Blaugranas are in desperate need of a right-back with recent reports that Sergino Dest could be on his way out of Camp Nou and one player that has been linked as a possible replacement is Thomas Meunier.
Barcelona have reportedly established new contacts with the representatives of Borussia Dortmund defender Thomas Meunier, making him known that he is currently their big target to reinforce the right-back spot.
According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona is hoping to close his signing immediately, especially after knowing that the player has asked the German team to let him leave for Barca.
While everything is in place for his arrival, the report by MD journalist Gabriel Sans notes that the key that would unlock the final piece remains the departures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Memphis Depay.
The report adds that as far as Dortmund is concerned, they have been made aware of Meunier’s desire to play for Barcelona. At 30 years of age, the defender feels it is his last chance to play for a big team, and he certainly does not want to let go of the opportunity.
It remains to be seen if Aubameyang and Depay will depart Camp Nou in time for Barcelona to finalize a deal with Dortmund for Thomas Meunier.
