The Spanish Queen emphatically humiliated the Sporting de Huelva Women’s Team in the one sided Final show down.
At the Estadio Santo Domingo, Barcelona Women started well in their last game of the season with their usual midfield power play that came with outright class and taste. Sporting’s Dohan put Barca Women in the Lead after diverting a goal into her own net just 25 minutes into the game.
Seven minutes after the unfortunate blunder, Mapi Leon scored Barca’s first goal to make it 2-0 on the night through Lieke Martens’ assist but Sporting de Huelva Women defended further to end the interval on that note.
However, Castello gave some hope to Sporting de Huelva Women by reducing the deficit in the 62nd minute to make it 2-1. Crnogorcevic maintained Barca Women’s lead with the Champions 3rd strike as they jeopardised Sporting Women’s expectation of a comeback.
To make matter worse for the struggling side, Claudia Pina made it 4-1 just 7 minute after with another cool strike. With Asisat Oshoala still in the bench, Coach Giraldez wasn’t threatened to introduce her to the game being Barca’s highest League goal scorer this season.
After making 2 assists, Lieke Martens made it 5-1 about 4 minutes from time and before the Referee could end the game, World best, Alexia Putellas scored the 6th goal, 2 minutes into the stoppage time to give Barca an emphatic 6-1 win and another glorious Copa De la Reina Title.
This season saw Barca Women win 45 games out of 47 in all competition after losing to only Wolfsburg and Lyon Women in the Champions League. They also scored 221 goals and conceded only 23 goals this season in all engagements.
