Barcelona loanee, Francisco Trincao was on target as Sporting Lisbon defeated Eintracht Frankfurt by 3 goals to nil in their UEFA Champions League opener. Marcus Edwards and Nuno Santos also found the back of the net in their comfortable win over the Bundesliga side.

After a goalless draw between both sides in the first 45 minutes, Sporting Lisbon scored three second half goals to secure maximum points.

Two goals from Edwards and Trincao in the 65th and 67th minutes respectively put the Portuguese side in a two goal advantage and Nuno Santos added the third goal in the 82nd minutes to seal the win.
