Real Madrid were not at their best against Valencia on Wednesday, but they managed to get through the game. Samuel Lino’s effort early in the second period cancelled out a penalty from Karim Benzema, sending the semi-final to extra time and then penalties.

Benzema, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Marco Asensio all converted from the spot, while Valencia missed two of their five attempts, allowing Carlo Ancelotti’s team to advance to the final.
