However, even though taking water regularly is advised (medically), there are times of the day you should avoid taking too much water, and this is because of the adverse effects it has on the body.

Precisely, taking water in the evening is not advised for certain health/medical conditions, and more often than not, everyone should avoid doing so.

According to WebMD, drinking too much water “before bed” contributes to nocturia, and those with certain conditions are advised to avoid it.

The two conditions include:

1. Kidney Disease

2. Diabetes

Also, those taking diuretic medicines are advised to avoid drinking too much water before bed.

For those who don’t know, A diuretic is any substance that promotes diuresis, the increased production of urine. This includes forced diuresis.

A diuretic tablet is sometimes colloquially called a water tablet. There are several categories of diuretics. All diuretics increase the excretion of water from the body, through the kidneys.

Thus, you can reduce the chances of nocturia by reducing fluid intake in the evening.

It is important to drink enough during the day, however, it can be disruptive if you drink directly before bed.

Hence, you should avoid drinking water (or any fluid) at least two (2) hours before sleeping to prevent waking up at night.
