Manchester United (A) – September 4

This weekend’s road match against United will put Arsenal to the ultimate title test. Despite Arsenal’s hot start, Erik ten Hag’s team has been playing better as of late and is starting to seem like a stronger team than they did in the previous season.

Even though the Gunners lost 3-2 to United on the road in a tightly contested match last season, they will be expecting to get the best of their passionate rivals this time around. Having benched captain Harry Maguire and superstar Cristiano Ronaldo for the past three games, it is unclear if United will be a legitimate contender for a top-four berth under Ten Hag.

After facing United and the beginning of the Europa League group stages, Arsenal has another challenging test against Everton at the Emirates Stadium, but they can draw heart from their result against Everton last season.

The 2021/22 season ended with Mikel Arteta’s team beating Frank Lampard’s 5-1, and they are currently in considerably better form than the Toffees.

However, the Gunners had lost three of their previous four matches against Everton before last season’s 5-1 thrashing. Just days before hosting Lampard’s side at the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners will play their first group stage match in the Europa League against FC Zurich. As a result, Arteta may elect to rest starters or play a weakened lineup in the midweek match.

The Gunners will be out for payback against Thomas Frank’s squad after last year’s loss, all while trying to maintain their impressive season-opening run.
