With Manchester City only five points back in second, though, the fear always remains that the north Londoners will not be able to catch up.

We analyzed Arsenal’s next five matches that could make them drop points

West Ham

The Gunners’ Boxing Day match against West Ham promises to be an intense contest.

The Hammers were having form problems leading up to the World Cup break, so the time off to rest, practice, and regroup was welcome.

But Arsenal is not in the same league. The team from north London has been playing well as of late and will look to keep it up.

West ham is always a problem for the top 6 clubs and they could defeat Arsenal or get a point.

Brighton & Hove Albion

With Arteta’s side eliminated from the Carabao Cup just before the World Cup break, Brighton has been a perennial stumbling block for the Gunners in recent seasons.

Newcastle United

Since Eddie Howe’s team is fighting for a playoff spot, this is likely to be one of Arsenal’s most challenging games of the season.

It’s good news for the Gunners that the encounter will be played at the Emirates Stadium rather than St. James’ Park since the latter would have meant a gruelling pair of away days on opposite ends of the nation.

Tottenham

The Derby in north London. Not something you want to miss out on before bedtime. Red fog is rolling in, and tensions will be high enough to warrant yellow cards.

There hasn’t been much of a gap between the two rivals as of late, with each team taking three wins out of the last six encounters.

Manchester United

The Red Devils are in the hunt for the playoffs, but a win for Erik ten Hag’s team would be important.

This matchup has always been fierce, and with both teams playing close to their potential once again, Arsenal could be in for a treat.
