Gabriel Jesus, who has scored five goals since his summer switch from City, has undergone knee surgery after being injured while with Brazil and could be out for three months.

That has led to Arsenal looking at bringing in a replacement in order to consolidate their strong start to the campaign.

And it appears that Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix is at the top of Arteta’s wish list.

Indeed, the report adds that sporting director Edu is in contact with Atletico and it’s simply a case of ‘watch this space’.

If Felix does arrive in north London he should be able to slot in seamlessly between wide men Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

That would also still give Arteta the option to continue to use Eddie Nketiah from the bench, rather than put the pressure on the young forward to be the club’s No.1 striker until Jesus returns.
