Arsenal’s initial bid of £30million was rejected, as it fell well below Ajax’s £50m valuation. However, the Daily Mail reports that Arsenal will increase their offer, but will still fall short of Ajax’s asking price.

Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reports that Eredivisie team Ajax Amsterdam would be willing to accept a lower fee than the previously reported £50m for defender Jurrien Timber. A bid between €40m (£35m) and €50m (£43m) is expected to be enough to secure a deal.
Timber is keen to join Arsenal, with whom he has a gentleman’s agreement to leave for a suitable offer. He previously rejected a move to Manchester United due to concerns about his place in the Netherlands’ World Cup squad, but that is no longer an issue. Arsenal are also reportedly pursuing a £65m deal for Chelsea midfielder Kai Havertz.
