The club summer signing, Marquinhos was the hero and saviour of the night for the Gunners as he had a direct two goals contributions which was instrumental in helping the team secured the crucial two goals to one win that placed them at the top of the table.

The 19 year old Brazilian international and young forward maestro was signed this summer by Arsenal and has been plying his trade with the team’s U-21 squad but was called to the senior team for the trip in their European campaign opener.

He was able to make name for himself as he scored a goal and also provided an assist in his European debut game for the North London club and as such earned him the Man of the Match award.

Marquinhos as such has now became the first player since Raphael Meade versus Panathinaikos in September 1981 to make his competitive debut for Arsenal in a European game and score in that fixture which was a period of 41 years running.

He will be hoping to keep his superb run of form in the front of goals going for his team as they continue their pursuit in the competition as one of the strong favourite contenders.
