Currently without a team, Thierry Henry took advantage of a chat with ‘CBS Sports’ to give his opinion on the current situation of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Despite living radically opposite moments, the former Barcelona and French national team striker believes that the team led by Xavi Hernandez can regain supremacy in Spanish football next season and, proof of this, was the last ‘Clasico’ at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Although Henry recognises the great moment of Los Blancos, he did not hesitate to affirm that “All European clubs fear Real Madrid and Madrid fear Barcelona”.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side won LaLiga with four games to go and will play in the Champions League final against Liverpool, while Barça will end the season without a title for the first time since 2013-14.

However, the man from Les Ulis is convinced that the 4-0 lost at the hands of Xavi’s side on 20 March was no fluke. In fact, the 4-0 thrashing at the Bernabeu was the big ‘blot’ on Madrid’s season so far, in a campaign in which the club will be hoping to achieve another double (league and Champions League). Regarding the final in Paris, Henry did not hesitate to make a prediction for the match on 28 May.

“Personally I think Liverpool will win the Champions League. They are stronger than Madrid,” said the former French player, who won the Champions League with Barça in 2009.

Thierry Henry will be present at the eagerly awaited clash at the Stade de France, a stadium where he won the World Cup with his national team, but where he also lost the UCL in 2006 with Arsenal, precisely against Barcelona (2-1).

Benzema and Mané, Henry’s favourites for the Ballon d’Or

On the next Ballon d’Or, Thierry believes that his compatriot Karim Benzema is the main favourite to win it, but he does not rule out Liverpool’s number ’10’. “I still think Benzema is ahead, but if Sadio Mané wins it with Liverpool and they do the quadruple, he’s a pretty strong opponent and it would be great for Africa.

But I’m still betting on the Frenchman,” Henry said in his interview with ‘CBS’. The former Monaco coach is currently without a team after terminating his contract with CF Montréal.
