Arsenal did well to shore up their squad during the summer window and look like a strong unit capable of challenging for titles. They did fall short with their defensive side at the end of last season but have done well to keep the players fit.

Before the summer transfer window ended, Arsenal fans may have wanted to add another defender to offset the loss of Jurrien TImber. Left with essentially the same set of defenders as last season, Mikel Arteta still has plenty of versatility and fit legs.

Hence, with limited funds ahead of the January transfer window, Arteta could focus on shoring up their attacking end more than any other area. Arsenal have been looking for a wide attacker as they want to reduce the load on Bukayo Saka.

Pedro Neto remains a target, and Arteta may have wanted him in earlier windows. Injury issues could have forced Arsenal to cool their interest. With the start of the season he has had, many clubs are monitoring the Portuguese winger’s situation.

Liverpool recently scouted Neto during Portugal’s game against Bosnia & Herzegovina, and they remain keen. A few stories have mentioned the winger would like a move to Arsenal as he is a fan of the North Londoners.

That aside, Arsenal are set to push with their pursuit of the winger. Wolves are not keen to sell him in January and have slapped a £70 million price tag following his superb start to the campaign. Wolves have already told the Gunners to pay a premium to sign him, something they might consider.

Arsenal also hold an interest in Ivan Toney, as Arteta has pondered adding the Brentford start to his side. With budgetary issues a concern, the Gunners have reportedly decided to sign the £70million-rated winger over the striker.
