In the 83rd minute of the Black Country derby on Sunday, play was halted as Wolves netted their second goal, taking a 2-0 lead.

West Midlands Police confirmed five arrests for public order offenses during the disturbance, with another individual detained before the game for possessing an offensive weapon. Additionally, one spectator was hospitalized due to head injuries sustained during the disruption.

Images captured a fan with a bleeding head wound being assisted by law enforcement.

Emergency services treated a total of four individuals during the incident, according to a West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson.

The Football Association (FA) launched an immediate probe into the disorder, which saw security personnel and officers intervene as fans spilled onto the pitch. Referee Thomas Bramall eventually led both teams off the field amidst the chaos.

Trouble had already erupted earlier in the match, with flares thrown and objects hurled onto the pitch.

West Midlands Police reported, “Five people have now been arrested for public order offenses relating to the disorder on the ground. Another man was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon before the match outside of the ground.”
