Last summer, Italy defeated England on penalties to win the European Championship, while Argentina defeated Brazil 1-0 in the Copa America final.

Argentina finished second in the 2014 World Cup but was eliminated in the round of 16 in 2018, so it will be interesting to watch how they fare in this year’s competition, with the South American nation vying for a third title.

Lionel Scaloni’s side hasn’t played since a 1-1 draw with Ecuador in a World Cup qualifier at the end of March, but they haven’t lost in any competition since July 2019, so they should be confident going into Wednesday’s match.

Lautaro Martinez and Angel Di Maria could play alongside Lionel Messi in the last third of the field, while Cristian Romero is expected to play alongside Nicolas Otamendi in the middle of the defense.

Messi (81 goals), Lautaro Martinez (19 goals), and Di Maria (24) are the team’s top scorers, while on-loan Manchester City attacker Julian Alvarez could play a part at some point.

Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton & Hove Albion is also included in the squad, while Nehuen Perez and Marcos Senesi will be seeking to make their debut appearances for the national team in London.
