Manchester United have announced that the next step for Charlie McNeill will be to spend the 2023-24 season on loan at Stevenage in League One....CONTINUE READING
McNeill has scored 47 goals at various academy levels for Man Utd since returning to the club from Manchester City in 2020. He spent the second half of last season on loan in League Two with Newport County.
After scoring twice in 20 appearances there, he has now stepped up to the third tier for his next temporary stint developing away from Man Utd.
He will wear the number 26 shirt for his new club, who won promotion to League One after finishing second in League Two last season.
Man Utd have offloaded various young players towards the end of the transfer window; Marc Jurado has been sold to Espanyol, for example, after Teden Mengi’s move to Luton Town.
McNeill, who is still only 19 years old, is their third player leaving on loan this summer after Will Fish went to Hibernian and Brandon Williams went to Ipswich Town.
In September 2022, McNeill became the first academy player to make his Man Utd debut since Erik ten Hag became manager. He will have to wait a while to add any more appearances for the first team, though, since he has now committed to Stevenage for the season.
Stevenage are managed by former Leeds United boss Steve Evans and this summer have also taken Finley Burns on loan from Manchester City and Harrison Neal on the same terms from Sheffield United….READFULL
