Anambra State, which is located in the South East region of Nigeria is one of the main commercial hubs in the most populous black nation in the world, Nigeria.

The people of the Southeastern state went to poll on the 6th of November this year to elect their leader who will serve them for the next four years.

Before the election, the political gladiators in the state have fumed that the candidates of their party will emerge victorious in the gubernatorial poll.

Also, many Nigerians are interested In the election because they believed the election will be a pointer to how the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will conduct future elections, especially, the 2022 Ekiti and Osun governorship elections.

The primary elections leading to the governorship election caused infighting in the three main political parties in the state. Those who could not stand the heat left their party to join other political movements in the state.

Some aspirants also left their political parties to contest in rival political parties so that they can achieve their aims of governing the state. Some friends turned political enemies, others turned into emergency friends.

On the election day, many voters turned out to elect their preferred choice for the governorship seat after the candidates have sold out their manifestos to them. Votes were cast, results were announced but the Ihiala Local Government area election was postponed due to a report of violence in the area.

After the Ihiala Local Government election survived and all the results were announced, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo emerged victorious in the poll and he was announced as the winner of the controversial election.

The result of the election did not go well with some candidates especially that of the All Progressives Congress, Andy Uba who cited some irregularities in the election process. He was challenging the outcome of the election in the Tribunal when another court verdict presented itself.

According to a recent court verdict of the high court, it announced that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Andy Uba is not the authentic flag bearer of the party because the primary election was marred and does not follow due process. Andy Uba, a former Senator has vowed to challenge the court judgement in the Court of Appeal.

Indeed, the 2021 Anambra Governorship election is the biggest event in the political space this year as we await further dramas and court orders ahead of the inauguration of Professor Charles Soludo early next year.
