Chelsea have lost two first-team defenders this summer, with Rudiger joining Real Madrid and Christensen moving to Barcelona on free transfers.

The Blues are also running the risk of losing Azpilicueta and Alonso, both of whom have only a year remaining on their respective deals with the London giants.

Bolstering the back-line is thus on top of Chelsea’s wishlist, who have shortlisted the likes of Jules Kounde, Nathan Ake, Matthis de Ligt and Kimpembe as their summer targets.

The Blues have had a long-standing interest in Jules Kounde, who was linked with a move to Chelsea last summer before Sevilla increased their demands at the last minute.

Chelsea have now returned to the market for Jules Kounde this summer, but discussions have been ongoing and the two clubs are yet to reach an agreement. Thomas Tuchel is also lining up a move for ex-Chelsea centre-back Nathan Ake.

The Netherlands international is not among Pep Guardiola’s first-choice defenders at Man City and could find a new lease of life at Chelsea next campaign. Presnel Kimpembe has now emerged as another option, with PSG looking to add Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan.
